Jamaican-born author Natallie Rochester was inspired to write Hazel Hummingbird: La Colibrí Hazel when she found few books for her daughter with Caribbean scenes and people. Through the picture book and related songs written and produced in Jamaica, she shares the beauty of Caribbean people, sights and sounds with the world.

The story gives the world a taste of Natallie’s experience growing up in Jamaica. She grew up fascinated by the Caribbean’s natural sights and sounds. These memories stayed with her even when she was away from home. The passion to share this Caribbean legacy and heritage has inspired the creation of Hazel Hummingbird: La Colibrí Hazel and the vision to increase diverse books, music and other media for children.
